Climate change is impacting the traditional migration patterns of whales and dolphins, pushing them into unfamiliar and riskier territories, according to a recent report by Ars Technica. A workshop organized by the United Nations Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals revealed that more than 20 percent of migratory species are at risk of extinction due to climate change. The convention’s report emphasized the widespread impact of rising temperatures, extreme weather events, and habitat transformations on various species, including Asian elephants and arctic shorebirds.
