Anthropic, the AI company, has introduced a new integration that allows Slack users to access Claude Code directly within the platform. The feature, launched in beta as a research preview, enables users to tag Claude on coding-related messages and threads. When tagged, Claude automatically scans the message to identify coding tasks and routes them to Claude Code, leveraging context from Slack threads and authenticated code repositories.
Users can also manually designate requests as coding tasks, streamlining processes like investigating bug reports without the need for manual context copying. This integration builds upon the existing Claude app for Slack, eliminating the necessity for additional downloads but requiring the web version of Claude Code with configured code repositories.
This enhancement follows Anthropic’s recent release of the Claude Opus 4.5 model, which the company claims outperforms Google Gemini 3 in coding tasks. Initial tests revealed a 78% rejection rate for requests involving malware and malicious code creation, addressing safety and security concerns.
