Apple is set to introduce a significant upgrade to the Siri experience by incorporating AI chatbot capabilities directly into its iPhone and Mac devices, as reported by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. This transformation, expected later this year, will replace the current Siri interface, enabling users to interact with the assistant through both voice commands and text inputs, similar to existing chatbots from Google, OpenAI, Anthropic, and others.
The upcoming AI-driven Siri enhancement, internally referred to as Campos, is distinct from the personalization updates to the assistant. Leveraging a bespoke Google Gemini AI model, developed through a recent collaboration between Apple and Google, this new Siri version will deliver functionalities that go beyond the current AI personalization features, offering a more advanced level of interaction and utility.
Apple plans to unveil the AI-driven Siri upgrade at the Worldwide Developers Conference in June, with a subsequent rollout scheduled for September. This innovation is expected to be the flagship addition to the forthcoming iOS 27, iPadOS, and macOS 27 updates, while other improvements will primarily focus on system stability, according to Gurman’s insights.
