Arturia, a renowned manufacturer of music production equipment, has unveiled the KeyStep mk2, a successor to its popular KeyStep controller. The KeyStep mk2 promises significant improvements in synthesizer control technology, building upon the success of its predecessor.
The KeyStep mk2 retains the beloved features of the original KeyStep, such as 32 minikeys with aftertouch, a compact design, versatile connectivity options, and an affordable price point. However, the new model introduces several enhancements, including USB-C connectivity for power and MIDI, five-pin MIDI ports, analog sync connections, and CV and gate outputs for seamless integration with modular setups.
The standout additions to the KeyStep mk2 are the new generative functions, Mutate and Spice, inspired by Arturia’s Freak synthesizers. Mutate enables semi-random alterations to arpeggios and sequences, offering endless creative possibilities and the ability to save new musical ideas. Spice, on the other hand, focuses on rhythmic variations, adjusting gate length, velocity, and introducing octave jumps.
