Glīd Technologies, a California-based startup, is aiming to enhance the efficiency of freight transportation by automating the movement of cargo from road to rail. Founded by Kevin Damoa, a former U.S. Army enlistee and mechanical engineer, Glīd focuses on simplifying the initial mile from ports to railheads and facilitating road-to-rail transitions within industrial hubs.
Damoa’s experience in various sectors, including roles at SpaceX and Northrup Grumman, led him to recognize the inefficiencies in the road-to-rail logistics process. This realization prompted him to create Glīd in 2022, with the goal of alleviating congestion, reducing fatalities on roads, and improving the overall freight transportation ecosystem.
Glīd’s approach does not aim to compete with traditional trains but rather to enhance the efficiency of the first-mile logistics operations. By automating and optimizing container handling at ports and industrial sites, the startup seeks to streamline the transfer of containers between different transportation modes.
As one of the finalists in the Startup Battlefield at TechCrunch Disrupt 2025, Glīd Technologies showcases its commitment to transforming freight logistics through innovative technological solutions.
