As of October 31st, Movies Anywhere users can no longer access content purchased on Google Play and YouTube through the platform. The company announced this change in a brief help page notification, stating, ‘Effective 10/31/25, Google Play/YouTube will no longer participate in the Movies Anywhere program,’ without providing further details.
While existing movies synced from Google accounts remain available on Movies Anywhere, new purchases from Google Play and YouTube can no longer be added to the platform. This development has surprised many users who have relied on the convenience of accessing all their purchased films in one place since Movies Anywhere began supporting Google Play in 2017.
Notably, this change coincided with disputes that led to several Disney-owned channels going dark on YouTube TV. Despite the removal of Google Play and YouTube content, users can still watch their Google Play movies on YouTube or Google TV, ensuring continued access to their purchased content.
