Rode, a renowned provider of audio solutions, has unveiled an enhanced version of its Wireless Micro Camera Kit, featuring an OLED display for improved functionality. The original Wireless Micro microphone system, launched last November, offered users two tiny lavalier mics with a receiver that initially connected to smartphones. Following a free upgrade, Rode introduced a new receiver enabling seamless connectivity to digital cameras as well.
The latest iteration of Rode’s wireless camera receiver, now available as part of the Wireless Micro Camera Kit, includes two Wireless Micro lavalier mics and an additional wireless receiver for connecting mics to mobile devices via USB-C or Lightning ports. Priced at $149, the kit provides essential battery life and signal strength information on the 1.1-inch OLED screen, enhancing the user experience and usability.
The receiver, designed to attach to cameras via the cold shoe mount, delivers audio from up to two wireless mics through USB-C or 3.5mm audio cables. With an estimated battery life of up to seven hours, the receiver conserves power by activating only when connected to a camera, with the option to extend runtime up to 21 hours using the charging case included in the kit.
While Rode’s wireless lav mics may not offer the same extensive features as other industry offerings, such as DJI’s Mic Mini or Mic 3, the focus on affordability and practical functionality makes Rode’s Wireless Micro Camera Kit a compelling choice for content creators and audio enthusiasts alike.
