Samsung has announced a significant update to its SmartThings platform, enabling seamless integration with Siri Shortcuts. This new capability allows users to leverage Apple’s voice assistant to execute SmartThings routines, streamlining control over their smart home ecosystem.
Announced through a press release, the update empowers users to employ Siri to manage SmartThings routines effortlessly. Siri Shortcuts, a key feature within iOS, enables users to automate tasks by interacting with Siri. These automations can be user-defined within the Shortcuts app or incorporated by manufacturers within their respective applications.
By incorporating Siri Shortcuts compatibility, Samsung aims to enhance the user experience, particularly for Apple device owners. Leveraging Siri, users can now activate routines like the ‘Good morning’ sequence through SmartThings, orchestrating actions such as adjusting lights, activating the coffee maker, and opening blinds to kickstart their day.
Additionally, Samsung has bolstered its SmartThings app for Apple devices. With this update, Apple Watch users gain access to a comprehensive device list, enabling seamless command execution and routine management. The revamped SmartThings iOS app also empowers users to monitor and control up to five recently used devices directly from the lock screen via Live Activities.
