Swatch has introduced a new tool called AI-DADA, powered by OpenAI, that allows users to design their own unique Swatch watches. This innovation enables customers to personalize their timepieces by selecting indexes, mechanism colors, and creating custom graphics. To balance creativity and data center efficiency, the tool imposes a limit of three design prompts per day.
While the AI-DADA tool offers extensive customization options, Swatch has implemented safeguards to prevent inappropriate designs, such as logos or controversial imagery. The company’s CEO, Nick Hayek Jr., pushed to relax some restrictions to align the tool more closely with the brand’s ethos.
Despite these efforts, there are concerns about users circumventing the safeguards to create potentially controversial designs. The tool draws from a rich dataset of Swatch products and designs spanning over 40 years, ensuring a familiar aesthetic for users.
