Boston-based Teradar has unveiled its new terahertz sensor, Summit, at the Consumer Electronics Show 2026. The sensor, leveraging the terahertz band of the electromagnetic spectrum, promises high performance in all weather conditions, addressing the limitations of traditional radar and lidar sensors.
Teradar’s Summit is a long-range, high-resolution sensor that is poised to enable automakers to integrate advanced autonomy features into their vehicles. The company is currently in discussions with major U.S. and European automakers, along with three Tier 1 suppliers, to secure contracts for the Summit sensor. This development comes at a crucial time in the automotive sensor industry, following recent challenges faced by prominent lidar companies.
