Meta’s Threads platform has reached a notable milestone, surpassing rival platform X in daily mobile users, according to data from Similarweb shared by TechCrunch. As of January 7th, Threads has 141.5 million daily active iOS and Android users, outpacing X’s 125 million users on Elon Musk’s platform. This shift in user numbers occurred gradually between late October and early November, indicating steady growth for Threads rather than a sudden surge.
While X still leads in mobile users within the US, Threads is narrowing the gap, with X experiencing a decline from the previous year. However, the web traffic paints a different picture, with X attracting 145.4 million daily web visitors compared to Threads’ 8.5 million. Despite Threads’ mobile user advantage, its combined daily user count of 150 million faces a significant challenge in catching up to X’s 270 million user base.
