The platform, now under the ownership of an investment consortium including Oracle, experienced issues such as login problems, video upload failures, algorithm glitches, comment loading issues, and other malfunctions.
Users, including some from The Verge, reported ongoing problems with video uploads getting stuck in review queues for extended periods. The timing of these technical challenges coincided with the platform’s transition to new US owners and the implementation of updated terms of service, which now include more detailed data collection and revised content moderation policies.
While speculation arose linking the outages to political events like anti-ICE protests, there is no direct evidence connecting the two. Despite concerns about potential censorship under new ownership, TikTok’s recent issues appear to be primarily technical in nature.
