Valve has released SteamOS 3.8.0, a significant update that introduces new features for Steam Machine living room gaming PCs and enhances support for various handheld devices.
The update brings long-awaited improvements to the Steam Deck, including genuine hibernation and ‘memory power down’ modes to extend battery life. Users can now also utilize Bluetooth headset microphones in gaming mode, addressing a community request.
For Linux desktop modes, the update offers enhancements such as desktop HDR, VRR display support, per-display scaling, and improved windowing behavior for games running in Proton. It also includes an upgrade to KDE Plasma 6.4.3.
