Webtoon, the popular platform for user-uploaded comics, is set to introduce new features aimed at empowering creators to expand their global audience and earnings. As reported by The Verge, the platform will soon offer an AI-powered translation tool for manga creators to localize their content into multiple languages, including English, Spanish, French, and more. Initially available to English-speaking users this spring, the feature will later extend to other markets, facilitating broader international reach.
Additionally, Webtoon is revamping its Canvas dashboard to provide creators with enhanced insights into series performance, detailed analytics on readership, and tools for community engagement management. The company will also make its ad revenue sharing program accessible to all creators publishing content in supported languages.
Webtoon’s President, Yongsoo Kim, stated that these updates aim to help creators overcome traditional distribution challenges and enhance their fan base and earnings. The introduction of translation tools is seen as a significant step towards breaking language barriers and expanding creators’ outreach.
