Withings has unveiled the U-Scan, a health tracking device that revolutionizes health monitoring through urine analysis. Originally announced at CES 2023, the U-Scan is a non-invasive tool that integrates into a user’s toilet, enabling effortless tracking of various health metrics.
While Kohler’s Dekoda focuses on analyzing stool using a camera, the U-Scan differentiates itself by detecting and sampling urine, testing it with replaceable cartridges, and sending the results to the Withings app for analysis and personalized health recommendations.
The U-Scan offers two cartridges at launch: Nutrio and Calci. The Nutrio cartridge monitors nutrition by measuring key biomarkers like hydration, ketones, and vitamin C. The Calci cartridge tracks parameters such as calcium levels to monitor kidney health and the likelihood of kidney stone formation.
Initially awaiting FDA clearance, Withings has now categorized the U-Scan as a ‘wellness product,’ eliminating the need for formal approval. The device connects via Wi-Fi to the Withings app, providing users with detailed insights into their health status.
The U-Scan is available in two options: Proactive for $349.95 and Intensive for $429.95. Subscription-based replacement cartridges are available for $99.95 each or $179.95 for a pair, ensuring continuous tracking and analysis.
