YouTube has introduced a new design for its video player on TVs, aiming to provide a more intuitive and streamlined user experience. The redesign includes relocating the video title and controls, as well as introducing a ‘Description’ button for accessing creator information and video features.
Users have reported seeing the updated interface on various TV platforms, including Nvidia Shield Pro and native Phillips TV OS. The changes are intended to make it easier to navigate through content by organizing the controls into specific categories, such as Channel, Description, Subscribe, and Playback.
The video title now appears in the top left corner of the screen, and the ‘Description’ button provides access to comments, metadata, and creator details. The separation of the channel thumbnail and subscribe function into distinct buttons enhances user interaction with creators’ content.
In addition to the layout changes, YouTube has introduced new features like ‘Multiview’ for live sports content and ‘Display Mode’ for Music and Premium subscribers.
