Google has unveiled its latest software update for Pixel phones, known as Pixel Drop, which introduces several new features to existing devices. The update includes notification summaries, a power-saving mode for Google Maps, prompt-based photo editing in the Photos app, and enhanced image processing capabilities in the Messages app.
One notable addition is the new low-power mode for Google Maps, designed to conserve battery life by dimming the screen and displaying only essential navigation information. This update, exclusive to Pixel 10 series users, promises up to four hours of extended battery usage.
Additionally, Google is expanding its scam detection capabilities for phone calls to more regions, including the U.K., Ireland, India, Australia, and Canada. The company is also enhancing message security by introducing a ‘Likely a scam’ button for suspicious messages, complementing its existing spam detection features.
Furthermore, a new feature called Remix, powered by Google’s Nano Banana image model and Gemini, enables users to creatively reimagine photos within the Messages app using interactive prompts. This functionality is now available to users in select countries, including the U.S., U.K., Australia, Canada, India, Ireland, and New Zealand.
