Punkt, a company known for its focus on privacy, has unveiled its latest smartphone, the MC03, which addresses the shortcomings of its predecessor, the MC02. The MC03 emphasizes security and offers improved hardware specifications, including a 6.67-inch 120Hz OLED display and a user-replaceable 5,200mAh battery. Running on AphyOS, based on AOSP 15, the device promises three OS upgrades and five years of security updates.
A notable aspect of the MC03 is Punkt’s decision to assemble the device in Germany, a shift from its previous manufacturing practices in Asia. This move aligns with the company’s commitment to privacy, as AphyOS eliminates background tracking features and provides secure alternatives for essential apps. The MC03 is IP68 rated, powered by a MediaTek 7300 chipset, and designed to run third-party apps securely in a dedicated environment.
