GE Appliances has introduced a new smart refrigerator equipped with innovative features to streamline grocery shopping and meal planning. The GE Profile Smart 4-Door French-Door Refrigerator with Kitchen Assistant, set to debut at CES 2026, integrates a barcode scanner, interior camera, and an 8-inch tablet to facilitate managing food inventory and creating digital shopping lists.
Priced at $4,899, the Kitchen Assistant model offers advanced functionalities for $500 more than non-Kitchen Assistant variants. Unlike previous appliances featuring tablets, such as the Kitchen Hub, GE’s latest refrigerator focuses on enhancing the user experience by addressing shopping list maintenance, meal preparation, and food waste management.
Amy Hite, GE Appliances’ product manager, highlighted the purposeful integration of technology in the new smart refrigerator. The standout feature, a built-in scanner below the tablet, enables users to effortlessly add empty packages to their shopping lists via the SmartHQ App. Additionally, manual item entries are possible through the intuitive 8-inch touch screen.
The refrigerator also offers hands-free autofill and precise fill capabilities in the water dispenser, providing a blend of convenience and efficiency for consumers seeking a tech-enhanced kitchen experience.
