Kwikset has unveiled its latest smart home innovation, the Aura Reach smart lock, at CES 2026. Priced at $189, the Aura Reach offers a budget-friendly alternative to the Halo Select model, making advanced smart lock technology more accessible to a wider range of consumers.
While the Aura Reach lacks built-in Wi-Fi and an integrated door sensor found in the higher-priced Halo Select, it still boasts a Grade 2 security rating and a sleek, utilitarian design, catering to those seeking a reliable and affordable smart lock solution.
Featuring Matter-over-Thread connectivity, the Aura Reach is compatible with Apple Home, allowing users to take advantage of Kwikset’s hands-free auto-unlock feature, which utilizes Bluetooth and geofencing technology to unlock the door as the user approaches. Additionally, the lock includes a convenient touchscreen keypad with a proximity sensor that activates the backlight when the user is near the door.
Powered by four AA batteries with an estimated one-year lifespan, the Aura Reach offers remote control capabilities through a Matter platform like Amazon Alexa, Google Home, or Apple Home, when connected to a Thread Border Router. Kwikset has also introduced an optional Signal Range Boost for enhanced network performance.
With the Aura Reach, Kwikset brings advanced smart lock technology within reach of budget-conscious consumers, offering a blend of affordability, security, and convenience in a single package.
