Spotify, the popular music streaming service, has expanded its community features by introducing the Listening Activity feature on its mobile app. This update allows users to view their friends’ music choices, a functionality previously limited to the desktop app.
The Listening Activity feature is opt-in, ensuring user privacy. Users can select which friends to share their listening habits with, maintaining control over their music preferences. This update integrates Listening Activity into the mobile app’s interface, displaying friends’ music choices alongside chats for easy access. Users can interact with songs by adding them to their library or reacting with emojis.
Additionally, Spotify introduces a ‘Request to Jam’ feature for Premium users. This feature allows users to sync their listening with friends, enabling shared music experiences and personalized song recommendations based on mutual tastes. Free users can join a jam by invitation but cannot initiate requests.
These features are gradually rolling out on both iOS and Android platforms in select markets with messaging capabilities. Spotify anticipates a broader availability of the update by early February.
