Nike continues to push the boundaries of athletic wear with its latest innovation – the Nike Therma-FIT Air Milano jacket. Revealed alongside other cutting-edge products like the powered footwear system, Project Amplify, and performance apparel with enhanced airflow, this jacket stands out for its ability to help athletes regulate body temperature effortlessly.
The jacket, constructed from a two-layer composite laminate material, features air bladders that can be inflated or deflated within seconds. When filled with air, it provides excellent insulation by trapping body heat, while deflating it offers the comfort of a lightweight hoodie. This versatility allows wearers to adapt to changing conditions without the need to add or remove layers.
Nike’s use of air bladder technology, known for enhancing shoe cushioning, has been extended to create a garment that combines warmth and portability. Unlike traditional puffer jackets, the Air Milano is easy to compress and pack, making it ideal for travel and on-the-go athletes.
While details on pricing and public availability are awaited, the jacket is set to make its debut at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan, Italy, where Team USA athletes will sport it during medal ceremonies. This isn’t Nike’s first foray into inflatable outerwear, having previously experimented with the concept in 2008 and later refined it with the ISPA Adapt Sense Air jacket.
