YouTube TV is expanding its multiview feature, allowing viewers to customize their viewing experience by mixing and matching up to four channels of their choice on a single screen. Previously limited to sports channels, the multiview option will now be available across various genres, including news, entertainment, and more.
In an annual letter, YouTube CEO Neal Mohan emphasized the platform’s commitment to personalization, stating that the enhanced multiview feature aims to cater to individual interests and preferences.
Initially introduced for sports broadcasts, the multiview feature has since expanded to include news and weather categories. Now, users will have the freedom to create their own multiview layouts, providing a tailored viewing experience for families and households with diverse preferences.
To access the multiview feature, users can navigate to the Multiview icon or ‘Watch Multiview’ option on YouTube TV and select up to three additional live channels to be displayed simultaneously.
Furthermore, YouTube TV plans to offer genre-specific channel packages, allowing subscribers to select content based on their preferences, potentially leading to cost savings and a more personalized subscription.
