OpenAI CEO Sam Altman is set to visit India in mid-February, marking his first trip to the country in nearly a year. Altman’s visit coincides with the upcoming India AI Impact Summit 2026, which will gather industry leaders such as Meta, Google, and Anthropic.
The India AI Impact Summit, scheduled between February 16 and 20, will feature prominent figures like Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, Google CEO Sundar Pichai, and Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, alongside key Indian business personalities including Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani. While Altman’s attendance has not been officially confirmed, sources reveal that OpenAI is planning exclusive meetings during the summit in New Delhi, with Altman expected to participate. Additionally, OpenAI will host an event in the city on February 19, inviting venture capitalists and industry leaders.
Altman’s visit aligns with the growing interest of global AI firms in engaging with India’s business landscape, startup community, and developers. His last visit to India was in February 2025, following OpenAI’s announcement of establishing an office in New Delhi. Despite previous plans for a 2025 return, Altman’s trip did not materialize, making this upcoming visit significant for OpenAI’s continued engagement with the Indian tech ecosystem.
