Google Photos has unveiled a new feature that allows users to create personalized memes using their own images. The ‘Me Meme’ feature leverages generative AI technology to merge a photo template with a user’s image, resulting in a customized meme. This experimental feature, initially discovered by Android Authority in October 2025, has now been officially announced by Google.
While currently limited to U.S.-based users, ‘Me Meme’ aims to provide a fun way for users to engage with Google’s Gemini AI technology, particularly Nano Banana. Google recommends using well-lit, focused, and front-facing photos for optimal results, noting that the generated images may not perfectly match the original.
Although a lighthearted addition, such features serve as a means to encourage users to explore AI tools within the Google Photos app, reinforcing user engagement. Similar trends have been observed with the popularity of AI-centric applications like Sora by OpenAI, highlighting the appeal of AI-enhanced personal content creation.
‘Me Meme’ is yet to be fully rolled out, appearing under the ‘Create’ tab when available within the Google Photos app. This feature underscores Google’s ongoing efforts to integrate AI capabilities into user-centric experiences, offering a glimpse into the evolving landscape of personalized digital content creation.
