Google is rolling out a new feature called ‘auto browse’ in Chrome, powered by Gemini AI, aimed at simplifying multitasking for Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers in the US. This capability allows users to delegate tasks such as researching travel costs, scheduling appointments, completing online forms, managing subscriptions, and more to Gemini AI within the browser.
The introduction of ‘auto browse’ builds upon the existing functionalities of Gemini in Chrome, evolving from an AI assistant for answering questions and summarizing web content to now executing complex tasks across various websites seamlessly. Users can benefit from Gemini’s ability to identify items in images, search for similar products online, make purchases, apply discounts, and manage budgets, all while leveraging the browser’s password manager for seamless logins.
Moreover, Gemini AI in Chrome has been relocated from a pop-up window to a panel on the right side of the screen, offering integrations with Gmail, Calendar, Maps, Google Shopping, and Google Flights. This enhanced connectivity enables Gemini to access and utilize information from different Google apps, enhancing its capacity to assist users in tasks ranging from booking flights to organizing events.
Google’s use of Nano Banana technology to edit on-screen images further showcases the company’s efforts to enhance user experience and productivity within the Chrome browser.
