OpenAI has unveiled an update to its ChatGPT’s deep research tool, introducing a full-screen document viewer that enhances the reading experience of AI-generated reports. This new feature allows users to navigate reports seamlessly, with the ability to scroll through content and access specific sections with ease.
The integrated viewer, showcased in a video demonstration by OpenAI, enables users to open reports in a separate window, providing a convenient layout that includes a table of contents on the left and a list of sources on the right side of the screen. This update aims to improve the usability and accessibility of the deep research feature.
Deep research, a capability initially launched by OpenAI last year, empowers ChatGPT to gather comprehensive information from the web and compile detailed reports on user-selected topics. With this update, users can now direct ChatGPT to focus on particular websites and associated applications during the research process, further refining the report generation.
Moreover, users can monitor ChatGPT’s progress in real-time, make adjustments to the research scope, or introduce new sources while the AI chatbot generates the report. Upon report completion, users have the option to download the file in various formats such as Markdown, Word, and PDF through the enhanced document viewer.
OpenAI has announced that these new features will be available to Plus and Pro users immediately, while subscribers to ChatGPT Go and users of the free app can expect the deep research update in the near future.
