Apple users can now enjoy the official visionOS YouTube app on the Apple Vision Pro, expanding the device’s video content offerings. The new app provides access to a wide range of video formats, including standard videos, Shorts, 3D, 360, and VR180 videos, as confirmed by Apple spokesperson Corey Nord in an interview with The Verge.
The Vision Pro, introduced over two years ago, previously lacked an official YouTube app. Initially, YouTube had no plans to develop a native app for the platform. However, shortly after the Vision Pro’s debut, YouTube reversed course and confirmed that a Vision Pro app was in the works. This transition from announcement to launch took just over two years, culminating in the app’s release on Thursday.
Prior to the official app’s release, Christian Selig, known for the Apollo app for Reddit, had developed an unofficial YouTube app, Juno, for early Vision Pro users. Unfortunately, Apple removed Juno from the App Store in October 2024.
The addition of the official YouTube app represents a significant enhancement to the Vision Pro’s functionality and user experience, aligning with Apple’s commitment to providing innovative technology solutions to its user base.
