Google has extended AirDrop compatibility to its Pixel 9 series, following the initial integration with Pixel 10 phones last year. Despite initial concerns, the feature remains functional, allowing Pixel users to transfer files conveniently to Apple devices with ease.
Owners of most Pixel 9 phones can now send and receive files effortlessly with Apple products. When sending files from a Pixel device to an iPhone, Mac, or iPad, the transfers will appear as AirDrop transfers on the Apple side, while on the Android end, files are managed through Quick Share. Both devices need to be discoverable to enable the transfer process, ensuring a seamless cross-platform sharing experience with just a simple tap to accept.
However, Pixel 9A users are currently excluded from this AirDrop support, necessitating the use of traditional Bluetooth or alternative methods for file transfers. Google has hinted at the possibility of expanding AirDrop compatibility to more Android devices in the future, offering hope for 9A users to potentially benefit from this feature through upcoming updates.
