Lucid Motors showcased its latest innovation, the ‘Lucid Lunar’ autonomous vehicle concept, during an investor event in New York City. The two-seater vehicle, designed without a steering wheel or pedals, is part of Lucid’s efforts to expand into autonomous mobility solutions.
Lucid’s interim CEO, Marc Winterhoff, stated that work on the Lunar project is ongoing and will follow the launch of the company’s mid-size electric vehicles. Lucid Motors also hinted at a potential collaboration with Uber for a robotaxi based on their upcoming mid-size model. Additionally, the company is exploring subscription-based services for its autonomous driving technology, DreamDrive Pro.
Lucid’s focus on autonomous vehicles marks a strategic shift towards building a business beyond electric vehicle sales. By leveraging partnerships with companies like Uber and Nuro, Lucid aims to establish a strong presence in the autonomous mobility sector.
