Epic Games and Disney have announced a significant development in their partnership, allowing Fortnite creators to craft custom Star Wars-themed games and experiences. The long-awaited feature, initially revealed in June, is now live, enabling creators to build and publish Star Wars experiences for players starting May 1st.
The Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN) has been pivotal in this initiative, empowering creators to design experiences within Fortnite’s ecosystem. Prior collaborations introduced franchises like Lego, Squid Game, and KPop Demon Hunters. However, the demand for Star Wars content has been persistent. Epic’s senior director of ecosystem growth, Andre Balta, highlighted the community’s eagerness for Star Wars integration.
Disney, recognized for its support, has provided Star Wars assets to UEFN creators. Notably, creators adhering to brand guidelines must share 20 percent of their earnings with Disney for Star Wars-themed content. Through Epic’s tools, creators can incorporate iconic Star Wars elements such as characters (e.g., Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader), vehicles (e.g., X-wings, TIE fighters), weapons (e.g., lightsabers, blasters), and even rideable Tauntauns into their creations.
