United Airlines has recently updated its iOS and Android mobile apps, providing passengers with valuable insights to streamline their airport experience. The airline now offers estimated security wait times at all its U.S. hub airports, a feature introduced in response to the recent partial government shutdown that affected TSA operations.
The enhanced app covers major airports such as Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, New York/Newark, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C., offering wait time details for both standard security and TSA PreCheck lanes. Additionally, travelers can benefit from personalized turn-by-turn directions to gates with estimated travel times, proactive notifications for tight connections, and weather radar maps to anticipate travel disruptions.
Furthermore, United Airlines has introduced self-service functionalities for flight rebooking, requesting meal and hotel vouchers, and a new ‘package-delivery-style bag tracker.’ Passengers can now seamlessly track their luggage location using Apple AirTag trackers, building on the airline’s prior support for Apple’s Share Item Location feature.
