inMusic, the parent company behind music hardware brands including Moog Music and Akai Professional, announced in May 2026 that it is acquiring Native Instruments, the music software and hardware company known for products such as Traktor and Kontakt.
The deal follows Native Instruments entering bankruptcy proceedings in Germany. In March 2026, Native Instruments CEO Nick Williams had publicly stated the company was seeking a buyer. Williams described the acquisition as a “fresh start” in a blog post announcing the deal, confirming that the company’s full portfolio — Native Instruments, iZotope, Plugin Alliance, and Brainworx — will continue operating under inMusic ownership.
The two companies had an existing working relationship prior to the acquisition. In 2025, inMusic and Native Instruments announced a collaboration that brought NKS integration to Akai Pro’s MPK controllers and M-Audio’s Oxygen controllers, and introduced Native Instruments’ sounds to the MPC standalone platform.
For users of Native Instruments’ software and hardware, the acquisition suggests continuity across the company’s established product lines. The deal also expands inMusic’s presence in music production software, adding to a portfolio that previously focused largely on hardware brands.
