Apple has released iOS 26.1, offering iPhone users a new transparency control feature for the Liquid Glass interface. This update aims to enhance the user experience by addressing visibility concerns stemming from the design changes in iOS 26.
The latest iOS 26.1 update introduces a ‘Liquid Glass’ setting that allows users to choose between the default clear appearance or a new tinted variant with increased opacity. This change affects the visuals of apps and Lock Screen notifications.
Among the key enhancements, iOS 26.1 now supports Live Translation with AirPods for various languages, including Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Japanese, Korean, and Italian. Additionally, the Apple Music MiniPlayer incorporates a swipe gesture for seamless track navigation, while AutoMix functionality is extended to AirPlay. Furthermore, users can now adjust gain settings for external USB microphones during local recordings and designate specific save locations for local capture files.
Other notable additions include manual workout logging within the Fitness app, a new Camera setting to enable/disable Lock Screen swipe access to the Camera, and improved FaceTime audio quality in low-bandwidth scenarios. Notably, iOS 26.1 enhances safety features by activating default Communication Safety and Web content filters to restrict adult websites for existing child accounts aged 13-17, with regional variations in age requirements.
