8BitDo, a leading accessory manufacturer, has released a firmware update for its Pro 3 and Ultimate 2 controllers, enabling a new shake-to-wake feature for the Nintendo Switch 2. This update, version 2.0, is now available through the Ultimate Software V2 on Windows and Mac, allowing users to wirelessly wake their Switch 2 console by simply giving the controller a gentle shake.
The ability to wake the console wirelessly has been a sought-after feature for Switch 2 controllers, and 8BitDo’s latest update aims to enhance the user experience and bring its controllers in line with industry standards. Previously, the lack of this wake-up functionality had led to recommendations for alternative models, despite 8BitDo’s controllers being relatively more expensive than some competitors like GuliKit’s $29.99 ES Pro, which had already offered wireless wake-up capabilities.
