Discord announced Nitro Rewards on Monday, May 11, 2026, a new program that gives Nitro subscribers access to offers from gaming and lifestyle brands at no additional cost.
The program is available to both Nitro Basic ($2.99 per month) and Nitro ($9.99 per month) subscribers. At launch, Nitro Rewards includes access to the base tier of Xbox Game Pass, which covers more than 50 PC and Xbox games — including Fallout 4, Stardew Valley, and DayZ — along with 10 hours of cloud gaming that lets users stream games to other devices. Subscribers will also receive discounts of 15% to 30% on a rotating selection of hardware from Logitech G, SteelSeries, and KontrolFreak. Discord says it plans to add more brand partners over time.
Discord co-founder and CTO Stanislav Vishnevskiy framed the program as both a thank-you to paying users and a business strategy. “Nitro is the biggest contributor to Discord revenue, and it’s been growing healthily year on year,” he told TechCrunch. “This is about doubling down on that and providing you more value again […] It’s honestly a big thank you to [subscribers] for supporting us. But also from a business perspective, it’s better retention on subscription as well, because people have more value for it.”
Nitro Rewards comes as Discord works to strengthen the case for its optional subscription tier. The platform has long allowed free access by design, which Vishnevskiy acknowledged can make subscriber acquisition challenging. “Nitro has always been about how we can meaningfully upgrade the Discord experience, but not limit it [for free users] in any large way,” he said.
Discord has grown to more than 90 million daily active users and has expanded well beyond its origins as a gaming chat platform. The company is also currently preparing to roll out age-verification measures as it faces lawsuits related to children’s online safety.
