Lucid Motors, a leading electric vehicle manufacturer, has announced a recall of over 4,000 of its Gravity SUVs due to an issue with improperly welded seat belts. The problem arose from a change in the manufacturing process by the seat supplier, which was made without Lucid Motors’ approval, leading to safety concerns in case of a collision.
The company discovered the issue during safety testing in January and has since taken action to address the problem. Lucid Motors plans to inspect all affected vehicles and either install a bracket or replace the entire seat, depending on the weld quality. This recall underscores the importance of stringent quality control processes in the automotive industry to ensure passenger safety.
