TikTok announced in April 2026 the launch of a new “Campus Hub,” a dedicated space within the app that gives verified college students access to group chats and personalized feeds tied to their university.
The hub builds on TikTok’s campus verification feature, which launched last August in partnership with UNiDAYS, a student verification platform. That feature, available across more than 6,000 universities, lets users add their college to their TikTok profile and browse a list of students at their school. Once student status is confirmed through UNiDAYS, users gain access to the new Campus Hub.
Inside the hub, students can create or join group chats with up to 300 classmates. These chats are exclusive to verified students at the same school. TikTok says the chats are intended to help students stay in touch, plan reunions, and keep conversations going over the summer. The feature could also position TikTok as an alternative to platforms like Discord, Facebook Messenger, and Instagram for everyday school communication such as class or club discussions.
The hub also includes a personalized feed surfacing content posted by verified students alongside content related to the user’s university, allowing students to stay connected to campus life and updates from any location.
TikTok is not alone in targeting the college demographic. Meta-owned Instagram rolled out a nearly identical campus verification feature last year, also allowing U.S. students to add their college to their profile and browse fellow students at their school.
The Campus Hub’s focus on college-based social networking echoes Facebook’s original model, which required a valid “.edu” email address and was built around connecting students within their university communities.
