Meta’s business AI tools facilitated approximately 10 million conversations per week as of late March 2026, up from 1 million at the start of the year, the company disclosed during its first-quarter earnings call on April 30, 2026.
The tenfold increase follows Meta’s recent expansion of its business AI assistant beta program across the U.S., EMEA, APAC, and LATAM regions. The tools are currently free for most businesses using Meta’s messaging apps, but CEO Mark Zuckerberg signaled that may not remain the case. “As we make more progress, we expect that we will also work towards establishing a longer-term monetization model,” he said on the call.
Meta is powering its business products with Muse Spark, a new large language model and the first to be released under the Meta Superintelligence Labs division, which was established last year.
On the advertising side, CFO Susan Li reported that more than 8 million advertisers have used at least one of Meta’s generative AI ad creative tools, with particularly strong adoption among small and medium-sized businesses. Advertisers using the company’s video generation feature saw conversion rates more than 3% higher in tests, Li noted. Meta is also launching the open beta of Meta Ads AI Connectors this week, allowing advertisers to connect their ad accounts to an AI agent.
Beyond AI, Meta’s apps collectively generated $885 million in revenue during the quarter, driven largely by paid messaging on WhatsApp and app subscriptions. The company also began testing a WhatsApp Plus subscription earlier in April 2026, offering users custom icons, themes, and notification sounds.
Meta reported a first-quarter profit of $26.8 billion, up from $16.6 billion a year earlier, on revenue of $56.3 billion — a 33% increase year over year. The strong financial results suggest that Meta’s broader platform, even as its AI tools remain unmonetized, continues to grow substantially.
