Qodo, a New York-based startup, has recently closed a $70 million Series B funding round led by Qumra Capital to bolster its efforts in code verification as AI-driven coding becomes more prevalent. With the proliferation of AI coding tools generating massive amounts of code, the critical issue of ensuring software functionality has come to the forefront.
Qodo specializes in developing AI agents dedicated to code review, testing, and governance, focusing on enhancing trust in AI-generated code. This funding round, which also saw participation from Maor Ventures, Phoenix Venture Partners, and other prominent investors, brings Qodo’s total funding to $120 million.
Unlike traditional AI review tools that primarily track code changes, Qodo distinguishes itself by analyzing how code modifications impact entire systems. By considering organizational standards, historical context, and risk thresholds, Qodo aims to empower companies to effectively manage AI-generated code with increased confidence.
Itamar Friedman, Qodo’s founder with a background in automating hardware verification at Mellanox and machine vision development at Alibaba, highlighted the necessity for distinct approaches in system generation and verification. His focus for Qodo was shaped by the escalating role of AI in content creation, particularly in the realm of code production.
